The SELEKT equipment and formulae are products of Nimrod Veterinary Products Ltd. The equipment comprises pump-drenchers for adult cattle, youngstock, calves, sheep, and goats. The formulae are composed on established scientific principles, for support or recovery of normal physiological and metabolic function in a range of specific conditions. The company was founded in the UK in 2007 by David Renney, a veterinary surgeon who has worked in the field of oral fluid therapy for over 30 years. Today, the SELEKT system – equipment and formulae – is used in more than 20 countries around the world.

Donna Renney, David’s wife, joined Nimrod as Director of Operations in 2014. She is a farmer’s daughter, and a co-founder of the Cheltenham Science Festival. She has worked on science communication in a number of countries.

Before the introduction of the SELEKT system, oral fluid therapy for adult ruminants was difficult and expensive, and clinical nutrition was limited by the quantity of nutrients that could be delivered.  The introduction of the SELEKT system has made oral fluid therapy practicable and inexpensive, and enabled the necessary nutrients to be delivered in the quantities needed.

The system is not difficult to use and many farmers are now using it. But before using the equipment, farmers should receive training from a vet on how to use the equipment safely, and advice on the correct use of the formulae.

In the UK, Nimrod has a team of four highly trained Territory Managers, who are always at hand to support vets and farmers, for product advice and training, and to service the SELEKT equipment.

Nimrod is proud to support livestock farming. It participates in agricultural shows and events, and in the past it has sponsored the Three Shires Cattle Trophy. The image shows David and Donna Renney presenting the prestigious Three Shires Cattle Trophy to the winner in 2019.
